1. Katie’s Kitchen

Closed Sundays and Mondays.
This Amish-owned restaurant is a gem of Lancaster County, serving American and Dutch cuisine (with vegan and gluten-free options). Katie’s kitchen is one of the best Amish restaurants in Lancaster to get a truly home-cooked meal and they are particularly known for their dinner specials. The restaurant is near Strasburg PA and during the summer there’s the option for shaded outdoor seating at picnic tables. Katie’s Kitchen uses local ingredients and is a favorite among Amish neighbors in Lancaster.
2. Yoder’s Restaurant and Buffet
14 S Tower Road, New Holland, PA
Note: Yoder’s has a special Sunday brunch!
Yoder’s Restaurant and Buffet, near New Holland, PA, combines the best of a country market, and an Amish-style restaurant. It’s well-known in Lancaster for having friendly service and some of the freshest ingredients around.
Yoder’s offers a variety of dining options. You can order off a menu of Amish specialties, enjoy the amazing buffet, or opt just for the soup and salad bar. Make sure to try the broasted chicken and Pennsylvania Dutch potato filling!
Whatever you choose, definitely leave room for dessert! Yoder’s Restaurant is known for having some of the best homemade Amish desserts in Lancaster County!

3. Shady Maple Smorgasbord

Tip: Saturday Lunch “early bird special” includes Dinner items on the grill.
This is Lancaster County’s largest smorgasbord – and one of the largest buffets in the United States! I have to admit it is my favorite place on this list. That might be subjective, however, because it’s a family birthday tradition (insider tip: go on the day of your birthday and receive a free meal!) This Amish-style buffet (with plenty of Amish cooks) serves breakfast, lunch, and has a gourmet dinner buffet (Steak? Shrimp? Yes!).
Shady Maple Smorgasbord is particularly known for its fried chicken, roast beef, and classic treats like shoofly pie and apple dumplings. They have some of the best homemade desserts and, of course, soft-serve ice cream (and hot fudge!). You can also get a great Amish breakfast here with breakfast items like all you can eat pancakes, eggs, and more!
The dining room is huge – but don’t be intimidated. This local favorite in the heart of Amish country is probably the best-known Lancaster area restaurant and is for a reason: it’s just that good. Make it a family experience and leave plenty of time in your day to keep going back to the buffet!
While you’re there – don’t neglect to check out the huge Amish grocery store across the street, greenhouse in summer, and Good’s store with an amazing Amish sewing section, games, and puzzles – it offers a true window into Amish life!
4. Dienner’s Country Restaurant

Dienner’s Country Restaurant in Lancaster, PA, is a beloved family-owned establishment known for its welcoming and cozy atmosphere, Dienner’s epitomoses Amish and Mennonite culinary traditions. The restaurant prides itself on its traditional Pennsylvania Dutch meals, meticulously prepared in small batches so the flavor is amazing.
Dienner’s is known for their famous rotisserie chicken and succulent beef served with gravy, accompanied by wholesome sides like buttered noodles, sweet corn, and creamy mashed potatoes. Their buffet has so much delicious food and offers a variety of homemade pies that are a must-try when you visit Lancaster!
5. Mrs. Yoder’s Kitchen
8101 State Route 241. Mt Hope, OH 44660
Mrs. Yoder’s Kitchen in Lancaster, PA, is one of the best buffets in Lancaster for authentic Amish Country cooking. Mrs. Yoder’s Kitchen is renowned for the perfectly crispy, Amish fried chicken – and let me tell you: it is truly delicious!. Mrs. Yoder’s Kitchen also offers a regular menu and a buffet most nights, which includes a main course buffet and a separate buffet exclusively for desserts. Some of the best dishees to try at Mrs. Yoder’s Kitchen are their rivvel soup (a traditional Pennsylvania Dutch soup with chicken broth and small dough balls made from flour and egg), Poor Man’s Steak, and the classic shoofly pie.
6. 1899 Olde Mill Restaurant
9 Queen Rd, Intercourse, PA
At the 1899 Olde Mill Restaurant, you’re in for one of the best Lancaster Amish Restaurants that blends history with deliciousness. Nestled in one of my favorite towns in Amish Country, Intercourse, PA, this restaurant is celebrated for its cozy ambiance and traditional Lancaster menu dishes. The smorgasbord, a daily “All-You-Can-Eat” affair, is a highlight, offering a diverse array of freshly prepared dishes. The best item on the menu though is the Grilled Sticky Buns – and yes, they are as delicious ss they sound! This is a great stop if you’re looking for something with historic vibes while you’re around Intercourse, PA.
7. Good N Plenty Restaurant
150 Eastbrook Road, Smoketown, PA 17576
Established in 1969 by Christ and Dolly Lapp, Good ‘N Plenty began its journey in a farmhouse built in 1871, offering a cozy, family-style dining experience.
Initially seating about 114 guests, the restaurant has expanded over the years to accommodate over 500 diners, making this a great choice for larger groups. Good N Plenty isn’t just for tourists, either, but is a beloved spot for locals as well, especially during the quieter winter months. Be sure to try their Dutch Sampler to taste all of the best Amish specialties!
8. Lititz Family Cupboard Restaurant
12 W Newport Rd., Lititz, PA
The Lilitz Family Cupboard Restaurant, in the heart of Lancaster, known for its rich history and vibrant Amish culture, this restaurant is truly a local gem that prides itself on serving fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. The menu includes American and Pennsylvania Dutch dishes. Like many Amish restuarants in Lancaster on this list, this restaurant offers both a full menu and a buffet. Lilitz Family Cupboard is know in particular for having a warm, welcoming atmosphere, and it is a true favorite among both locals and visitors to Lancaster seeking an authentic Lancaster Amish and Pennsylvania Dutch dining experience.
9. Bird-in-Hand Family Restaurant – INDEFINITELY CLOSED (as of April 2025)
2760 Old Philadelphia Pike, Bird in Hand, Pennsylvania
Bird-in-Hand Family Restaurant and Smorgasbord is part of a larger complex in Bird-in-Hand that includes a conference center and the Bird-in-Hand Family Inn. This Amish restaurant in Lancaster is particularly konwn for its Amish-style buffet featuring home-cooked foods and lots of great desserts. This is a great restaurant for famiiles, as the buffet has a unique kids section with lots of kid favorites. I often travel out to Lancaster with my daughter and I have great memories of enjoying a meal with her there when she was merely 14 months old – but the staff were totally accomodating and I swear she ate more Amish buttered noodles than she weighed at the time!
*I drove past Bird-in-Hand Family Restaurant in April 2025 and it was closed with no re-opening date. Please check carefully before you make plans to go! The inn appeared to still be open during remodeling of the restaurant.
10. Hershey Farm Restaurant
240 Hartman Bridge Road, Ronks, Pennsylvania

The Hershey Farm Restaurant in Lancaster, PA, is known for its Grand Smorgasbord, which includes hand-carved meats, rotisserie chicken, and classic PA Dutch recipes. You can also order off the menu, which features a variety of items such as golden fried chicken, ham balls, Amish stuffing, and homemade mashed potatoes. Hershey Farm Restaurant also boasts a comprehensive salad bar, a baked potato bar (yum!), and a dessert bar with Hershey Farm’s signature whoopie pies, cookies, and freshly baked pies.
Additionally, like Shady Maple Smorgasboard above, the facility offers a Full Breakfast Smorgasbord. For larger groups, they provide an authentic Pennsylvania Dutch Family Style Meal or Smorgasbord. This restaurant is not just about food; it’s an entire resort that includes more than 23 acres of walking trails, farm animals, and a fishing pond, as well as Shoppes and a more informal Café (Café 23) making it a great choices for dining and family activities in the heart of Lancaster County’s Amish country.

11. Oregon Dairy Country Restaurant
2900 Oregon Pike in Lititz, PA
Located in Lititz, this charming restaurant serves irresistible homestyle dishes, including their standout Broasted Chicken. They also offer a buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The venue features a petting zoo and a playground, adding to its family-friendly appeal.
The Oregon Dairy Country Restaurant is part of a working dairy farm, complete with a market, country gift shop, ice cream shop, deck, and a farm-themed playground. The restaurant and buffet serve a mix of classic Pennsylvania Dutch fare and modern favorites (but they are especially known for their broiled chicken!) and they offer breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets. The Oregon Dairy Country Restaurant also offers gluten-free and kids’ menu options. You can make a whole day of it as The Oregon Dairy specializes in family fun, providing a range of activities and events throughout the year, from deck events to a fall corn maze, making it an ideal destination for a family outing
12. Hometown Kitchen

Amish cooks and waitstaff greet you at Hometown Kitchen in Quarryville, PA. Some of their specialties include homemade chicken pot pie, an authentic Amish wedding meal, and of course meatloaf and roast beef dinner. Hometown Kitchen can accomodate larger groups in their banquet room and can serve family-style as well. Don’t miss out on their incredible Amish breads while you’re there – you’ve never had softer, more declicious bread!
13. Plain & Fancy Farm – Large Group Restaurant
3121 Old Philadelphia Pike, Bird in Hand, PA
The Plain & Fancy Farm is one of the best group-oriented dining experiences in Lancaster, and is ideal for parties of 20 or more. It offers family-style dining with dishes like fried chicken and meatloaf sure to please a crowd, and would be a great choice for a large family gathering or church-group outing. Plan & Fancy Farm is also – as its name suggests – a farm and offers activities like Buggy Rides and a theatre showing a film about Amish history, making it a great destination for larger gatherings. This is also the home of the restaurant below for smaller groups – and the site of the Amishview Inn & Suites – one of the best places to stay in Lancaster!
14. Smokehouse BBQ and Brews
3121 Old Philadelphia Pike, Bird in Hand, PA.
Located in the same complex, Plain & Fancy Farm, Smokehouse BBQ and Brews is a treat if you have had your fill of Pennsylvania Dutch foods and are looking for a hearty meal. You can order homestyle barbeque platters, craft beers, and still many traditional Lancaster County dishes.
Amish Bakeries & Pretzel Shops in Lancaster County
1. Achenbach’s Pasteries
375 East Main Street, Leola, PA 17540
Open 5:30 am to 3 pm – closed Sundays
Located in Leola, this amazing bakery has been open since 1954 and is owned by a local Mennonite family. They are known for their “Long Johns” – a simple straight donut with different types of frosting (you must try the peanut butter!) that you buy in connected batches. Their prices are extremely reasonable and this is a must stop for families or anyone with even a slight sweet tooth!
2. Immergut Hand-Rolled Soft Pretzels
Immergut is a small, family-run soft-pretzel shop and they also sell pretzel wraps. They have the most amazing pretzels with lots of flavor options – like traditional cinnimon sugar, plain, wheat, sesame, sour cream and onion, and garlic. You might not realize it – but garlic pretzels are what’s missing in your life! Their lemonade is also superb and the combo of lemonade and pretzels really was made in heaven! The pretzels are around $3 so a very affordable afternoon treat!
3. Brickhouse Coffee & Kitchen
53 Refton Rd, Refton, PA 17568, USA
Brickhouse Coffee & Kitchen is a great coffee spot in Lancaster that also serves breakfast and lunch. Some of the customer favorites include bacon, oatmeal and yogurt bowl, stuffed French toast, chicken salad sandwich, and cheddar burger. The café is also appreciated for its great coffee and tea selections.
Getting to Amish Country in Lancaster County, PA
Getting to Lancaster, PA—the heart of Amish Country—is straightforward from major East Coast cities. Although Public Transport works very well getting to Lancaster, I do recommend having a car for your time in Amish Country in Lancaster, PA as there’s no transport on back country roads and to and from the best Amish restaurants in Lancaster recommended here.
From New York City, the most popular option is Amtrak: board a Keystone Service train from Penn Station direct to Lancaster; the journey takes about 2.5 to 3 hours, with panoramic views of rural Pennsylvania. For driving, which I recommend, take I-78 W and US-222 S; expect about 3 hours on the road, depending on traffic. Buses (like OurBus or Greyhound) are budget-friendly but take a bit longer.
From Philadelphia, Lancaster is a breeze to reach. Amtrak runs frequent Keystone Service trains from 30th Street Station, taking just over an hour. For driving, hop on I-76 W (the Schuylkill Expressway) to US-202 S and US-30 W; you’ll be there in about 90 minutes. You can also take the PA Toll Road, but I find it’s far less scenic which isn’t worth saving the 20 minutes or so.
From Baltimore and Pittsburgh, driving is the most flexible method. From Baltimore, it’s a two-hour trip north via I-83; from Pittsburgh, plan for a 4-hour drive east on the PA Turnpike (I-76).
